ATTRACTING YOUNG PEOPLE TO ENGINEERING

We live in exiting times and Engineers are in the forefront. Engineering is serious businesses, but it is also a challenge and it can be fun. Engineers aim to extend our human capacities. With research and design the engineers work at the cutting edge. It provides the tools to build our modern society. Without these technological advances our world would come to a dramatic standstill.

People who have a background in scientific or technical education are essential to our society, both for developing new products and services and for scientific and social change and innovation. Sufficient availability of knowledge workers is required for the European economy to have a good competitive position. Knowledge-intensive businesses prefer to operate in an inspiring and innovative climate, and people are no different. That is why we need to attract to engineering as many students as possible, male and female, from all social and cultural backgrounds.

Venue: Rotterdam and the Beurs-World Trade Center

The City of Rotterdam is a city filled with contrasts. The past, present and future are integrated in a dynamic cityscape. During the rebuilding of the city after World War II Rotterdam was re-created as a modern metropole with an impressive skyline. Rotterdam is often also called the city of architecture. The city also offers a wide variety of music, theatre, movies and museums.

Beurs-WTC is, with its 95 meter high tower, one of the most eye catching buildings in Rotterdam. Besides the Congress Center, our building also accommodates 200 companies from all sectors of trade and business services. The Beurs-WTC Congress Center has 37 modern spaces, wich are suited for a range of events, from small scale meetings to large scale events. The accomodation is perfectly suited to cater for dinners, corporate events, product presentations or tradeshows. The ground floor of the building spreads to 3.000 m2 .
